Blue Diamond Industries, a member of the Hexatronic Group of Sweden, is headquartered in Lexington, KY with manufacturing facilities in Middlesboro, KY near the Tennessee border and Aubrey, TX just north of Dallas. We manufacture HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) conduit for the protection of fiber optic and power cables. On the communications side, market applications include FTTH (Fiber to the Home), wireless backhaul, the cloud, data storage and acquisition, network construction, broadband and legacy networks. Power applications include highway, airport and street lighting, ITS, SCADA control systems, and Positive Train Control. Blue Diamond is an ISO 9001:2015 certified company.
Blue Diamond Industries was founded in 2004 by six managers of Moore DP, a manufacturer of metal cabinets to the cable TV industry.
The original Blue Diamond was a manufacturer of HDPE and PVC water tubing. When Moore acquired the business in 1996, they changed the products over to HDPE conduit to serve the cable TV, telecom and network construction applications. Moore grew the pipe business, adding plants in Oklahoma and Erfurt, Germany. After the market declined sharply in 2003, the six managers of Moore purchased the KY manufacturing facility.
In March of 2006, Blue Diamond purchased the assets of Plastic Tubing who manufactured HDPE corrugated pipe and tubing for the civil engineering markets. Blue Diamond sold the corrugated division in 2010 to Infiltrator Systems.
In February 2015, a severe snow storm devastated the production facilities. The search for a new facility covered several states until an 8 acre site with three buildings in Middlesboro became available. Blue Diamond invested significantly in upgrading the existing plant and storage areas, and increased capacity by 20%. The new facility is a state of the art conduit production plant.
In December of 2017, Hexatronic Group, a manufacturer of microfiber cable, microducts, and fiber to the home infrastructure system, purchased Blue Diamond from the four remaining owners.
In April of 2020, Blue Diamond expanded its manufacturing locations to include Aubrey, TX. The new facility boasts top of the line, high efficiency/high output extruders.
Hexatronic Group plans on investing in a microduct production line at Blue Diamond in 2018. Additionally, legacy conduit production lines will be added in 2018 and 2019 to serve the growing market for telecommunications. Blue Diamond becomes Hexatronic's US base and positions both companies for the growing needs of broadband, data and telecom in the US for years to come.
